By teaming the best in power and transmission components, Deutz-Allis has engineered superior performance that clearly sets 1918 and 1920 tractors apart from the
competition.
The Engine.
1. Higher torque levels. Kohler Magnum engines deliver nearly 10% more torque than the closest competitive design based on manufacturer's published data. They consistently reach higher torque levels at lower RPM, allowing your Deutz-Allis 1918 or 1920 tractor to easily power through even heavy-duty jobs.
2. More powerful electronic ignition.
New inductive electronic ignition produces a stronger spark ~'~ lower cranking speed for sure,
quick starting in cold weather or when the plug is worn or fouled. System eliminates annual tune-ups by doing away with breaker points, condenser and coil. Provides better starting and lower maintenance costs.
3. Cleaner breathing, dual
filtering. With the unique Deutz-Allis design, engine air intake is through screened openings at the top rear and upper sides of the hood from behind the engine. Bottom of engine compartment is sealed, so only cool, clean air enters the engine intake and hydraulic oil cooling compartment from above. New high-capacity dual-filter air cleaner keeps the engine running clean.
Improved piston design. The new Kohler Magnum piston is based on the same
high performance technology used by Mercedes Benz. The difference results in longer life plus reduced oil consumption, vibration and noise.
Full pressure lubrication.
New high-efficiency Gerotor oil pump maintains high pressure even at low speeds. Oil is continuously pumped to all critical
components for cooler operation plus improved reliability under tough loads and at steep tractor operating angles.
Full-flow oil filter. Automotive-type oil filter allows the engine to run cleaner and cooler by adding oil capacity and lengthening oil change intervals. Standard on 1920, optional on 1918.
Oil Sentry lube system monitor. This valuable sensor protects against costly damage by triggering a low-pressure warning light should oil pressure drop below preset level.
The Drive Train.
Rugged drive shaft. Heavy-duty tractor type.
Delivers power directly from engine to hydrostatic transmission. Universal joints are equipped with replaceable needle bearings and lube fittings for easy servicing. Provides smooth
vibration free, trouble-free power from engine to transmission.
4. Sunstrand 15 Series hydrostatic
transmission. Recognized as the industry pacesetter. No clutching, no shifting. Dash-mounted control lever provides infinite speeds up to 8 mph. Unique dampening cylinder provides smooth power
engagement either forward or reverse. Features neutral lock position at center of forward/ reverse pattern. 1920 tractor has dual speed ranges, with lower speeds giving more torque for tilling and plowing. Free-wheeling transport setting on both models. Oil cooler and filter standard with both tractors for cool, clean performance,
longer life. Transmission oil fill conveniently located under hood near battery. Transmission oil level can be checked via a rear sight tube. Operator enjoys smooth, effortless speed control both forward and reverse. Rearward/forward shuttle ability makes handling in tight quarters a snap.
5. Heavy-duty differential axle. Transaxle is the beefiest you'll find in a garden tractor. Same as used in many commercial and industrial applications. Cast-iron axle housing with 13/~'' dia. ball-bearing-supported axle shaft provides greatest load-carrying capacity. Massive
automotive type steel bevel gears mean extra-long life. Single range on 1918. 5A. Dual-range with differential lock on 1920. Differential lock transfers power to both rear wheels for exceptional pulling power in the most adverse traction situations.
